New Christmas Decorations! | Blogmas Day 10

Everybody loves decorating their house for Christmas. It creates such a friendly, cosy and happy atmosphere. I think decorating for Christmas take us all back to happy and exciting childhood Christmas memories. Each year I buy a couple of new decorations to add to my collection and this year was no different! I am quite traditional when it comes to Christmas decorations. I like my reds, golds, silvers and greens, not your vibrant blues, purples or pinks so it can actually be hard to find decorations I like when the ones I don't like are so popular at the moment! Nevertheless, I managed to find a few that I absolutely love and with me having a big Christmas tree in my room this year, I definitely needed some more decorations.

Believe it or not, most of these decorations come from Tesco! The only decoration that isn't from Tesco is the adorable gingerbread men bunting. That came from Primark and was only £1! I love gingerbread men, I think they are very cute. So when I seen the bunting in Primark, I definitely had to pick it up, especially at such a bargain price.

The first item's I picked up from Tesco were the ballerina, ice skates and the Santa decorations. Each year Tesco brings out a ballerina decoration, each one has been slightly different and each one I have purchased. I love ballet, I like watching ballet and I like participating in ballet because of how stunning and elegant it looks. I actually keep the ballerina decoration in my room all year round! They just look so stunning and they aren't necessarily just for Christmas. The ice skates are a decoration I haven't seen before and I was over the moon when I seen them! I used to figure skate and I loved it. Unfortunately, it is a very expensive sport that isn't incredibly popular in the UK so I gave it up. I still love skating and would love to pick it back up again for some fun but for now, cute decorations will do! Lastly, the Santa decoration. The Santa actually has a toggle between his legs that make his arms and legs move when you pull it. It is a very traditional decoration and I thought he was cute and would look perfect on my tree or around my bedroom door handle. Either way, he was coming home with me. These decorations were all on a 3 for 2 deal at Tesco and there are definitely so many more to pick from! 

Even though there are only two gingerbread men in the picture, I did actually pick up three as part of the 3 for 2 deal too. I had little gingerbread men decorations last year but since converting our loft, a few decorations have gone missing, including my old gingerbread men decorations. So out with the old and in with the new it is!

The next thing I picked up was the star shaped wreath. I have always wanted to put a wreath on the outside of our front door but my mum was never keen and we tend to get quite windy weather here so we have never had one. This year I decided I was going to have one on the outside of bedroom door. A little hint to the Santa's Grotto that will be hidden inside. There were so many pretty wreaths in b&m and Tesco that I found it hard to pick just one! In the end I went for the star shaped wreath from Tesco that was only £5! Sticking with the star theme, I also picked up a packed of five glittery, golden stars for £2 in Tesco and I think they are going to look great on my Christmas tree!

The last couple of decorations I purchased were only £1.50 each and I think they are stunning. I'm not entirely sure what to call these decorations but they are essentially bits of a pine tree with robins, presents, berries, acorns or pine cones on them. I used to have them on my little Christmas tree and I thought they looked great. Now that I am going to have a bigger Christmas tree in my room, I needed to get a couple more.

There are still a few decorations I have been eyeing up in Tesco because they have such a wide variety this year but the only thing I really need to get is some more tinsel. I definitely don't need anymore tree or room decorations! I cannot wait to share pictures of my decorated room when I am finished, my goal is to have a mini Santa's grotto!

It's Beginning to Look a lot Like Christmas

Today I had a super long lie in and it was great, I think it was the thought of cleaning my room that kept me in bed if I'm honest but now I finally have free time again! Now that I am finished uni for Christmas, the first thing I wanted to do was finish decorating. All the lights for outside the house went up, we put little Santa outside the door and added some finishing touches in the living and dining room. I think it looks great, although I am tempted to move some of the decorations that are on the main Christmas tree in the living room - they are just not in the right place! The little Christmas Sweet Shop is nearly eighteen years old! Quite a few of our decorations are from when my brother and I were little but they look great and are really cute and festive so they kept put out every year.

Once the main house decorations were finished, it was time to clean my room and finish decorating it for Christmas. It didn't actually take me too long to clean it which surprised my mum and since I already had the Christmas bedding on, I didn't have to do much more. I added the Christmas teddy's and the advent bunting I bought last year and it looked really good but not great so I untangled the LED fairy lights I bought from Primark and added them around the advent bunting. Now it looked great. My bedroom window needed a little something extra and these bells have been put on my window for a countless number of years, they have been replaced a couple of times but I always seem to pick the bells. Finally we come to my mini Christmas tree! I love decorating my tree because I can put as many decorations on it as I want and they will all be in the right places. I did go to town on the tree decorations but I think it looks really really good! A few more fairy lights here and there, a couple candles and some cinnamon scented pine cones placed and my room was complete. Sitting in it with the fairy lights on, a cup of tea in hand and the smell of cinnamon slowly filling the room is absolute bliss and makes me feel very festive.

Since we are twelve days into advent, I thought I would show you a proper update of my (incredibly cute) advent calendar. I forgot to mention before but the calendar did come with a backdrop scene which I finally assembled and placed on my chest of drawers today. I added all the little bits and bobs I've received over the past eleven days (today I got a miniature card game) and I can't wait until it is completely finished and because it is a proper Christmas scene, I can bring it out next year as a fun decorative piece for my room.

Christmas House and a Yog Nog Bath

It's two weeks until Christmas! I also officially completed my last assignment of this uni semester today but that's not as exciting, although I am now free until the middle of January! I was super tired traveling to uni this morning (certainly not going to miss that for a while) having being at the Def Leppard concert last night and I had a mini exam to do, a lecturer to talk to, assignment results to receive and a couple of bits and bobs to pick up in town before coming home to take the dogs out and then finally relaxing... it was going to be a long day.

The Lush Yog Nog bath I had whilst catching up with vlogmas videos was worth it though. I love the smell of the bath bomb, it's so festive and warm and makes your bath go bright yellow/green! I have been waiting to have a nice, relaxing, lush bath (with candles) for what feels like forever and now that uni is done for a while I have a feeling that my lush bath bomb collection is going to decrease quite quickly!

Another thing I am looking forward to finishing is decorating my house! So far, the tree in the living room is up and decorated, as is the one in the conservatory, all the little fake candles are on windowsills, the wreath is up and some random decorations are placed about the house. We even have tree decorations hanging from every light switch in the house and tinsel around every picture and door. Tomorrow the outdoor lights are being put up and some more window decorations. My room will be fully decorated by tomorrow and I am so excited for it!

 I have only shown a few of the decorations that are up in my house at the moment, purely because there are so much more going up tomorrow and there will certainly be plenty more pictures then! I am super excited to catch up with TV shows, make a start on the rest of the Harry Potter books and finish decorating the house and I won't be changing out of cosy Christmas PJ's for anything or anybody tomorrow, A teeny tiny bike (that I had to build) was waiting for me in my advent calendar today and it's adorable. Now it's time for me to get cosy with a hot water bottle, Christmas PJ's and a cup of tea, thanks for reading day twelve.

Decorating for Christmas and Festive Fun

Today I went to two Christmas light switch on events as a first aider. Yesterday I was at another one and it makes me think back to when I was a child going to see the big massive Christmas tree be  switched on by Santa. Back then the council fully decorated the tree with tinsel and baubles but now they just put lights on it. There are always games, music, mince pies, shortbread, singing and occasionally reindeer at these events. The children absolutely love it and participate in everything. Learning dances at school to perform for their parents and community and the school choir learning all the songs to sing in the carol singing performance. Watching all the children sing, dance and play games, all having fun makes me wish I was still a child - with the only worry being learning the songs and dances for the Christmas light switch on. The choir was really good and the dances that the children learned were adorable. Afterwards I heard a few children say to their parents on their way home "lets put more of our decorations up" and instantly all I wanted to do was to go home and start making my room look christmasy.

After university today I browsed a couple of shops and picked up a few Christmas presents and maybe some more decorative things for my room as well - they were too cute to leave!

The first things I picked up was this pillow which is super soft and I love the saying on it! The pillow was from Primark and was only £4, I was quite surprised at the lack of festive pillows in Primark this year but at least I found one pillow I liked (just means I'll need to try the other Primarks near me). I also got a set of LED lights from Primark which were only £1.50! I broke my old lights that were star shaped so I needed a replacement and fairy lights make everything more festive. Colouring books are becoming hugely popular and I do have a few myself and enjoy them a lot (they help with stress). Naturally it was a must that I owned a Christmas colouring book plus some of the pages are beautiful which does make me reluctant to colour them in but we'll see. As you can see, I also have festive bedding (another must) I got this about ten days ago from a catalogue my mum orders from and it was only £5.99 for a single. I don't think I could have picked anything more festive especially since every word associated with Christmas is written on my bed sheets.

The last thing I picked up today was the figure skating boot tree ornament. I used to be a figure skater and I do really miss it and would absolutely love to go back to it again; because skating means so much to me, I have been looking for the perfect ornament and I finally found it! I found this one in Marks and Spencers for £3 which some might think is a little expensive for one little ornament (it is a lot smaller than it seems in the picture) but I wasn't hesitating for one moment before buying it. In Tesco a few weeks ago with my mum led me to discover that their Christmas isle had made an appearance, it was tempting me with all the cute woodland creatures and feathers and glitter, so I caved. I ended up getting not one little reindeer, but three little reindeer. All the ornaments were on 3 for 2 so it made sense. My mum also seen a little Merry Christmas sign that she liked so I picked up the two little wooden sledges with the forest detailing on them. Tesco is really cheap for decorations and has a lot of variety, I am just super fussy and everything has to be perfect - it took me long enough to decide on which three reindeers to get! 

I am continuing to make my room and the rest of my house super festive tomorrow and hopefully it should be finished! I am really busy tomorrow with first aiding and organising the cadets Christmas fun night as well, which I think I am looking forward to more than them! I just need to decide which of my 7 (yes 7) Christmas jumpers to wear. Today in my advent calendar I got the cutest little elf wearing a little green hat!
